💜 Izzy’s Law FL Is Stepping Up for Survivors

We are proud to announce that Izzy’s Law FL will be participating in CASA Citrus’s Step Up For Survivors Walk on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10 AM–12 PM at Lecanto Community Park.

This is more than an opportunity for us to set up a booth and talk about our advocacy. This event represents exactly why our work matters.

For more than four decades, the Citrus County Abuse Shelter Association (CASA) has worked in our community to help victims and survivors of domestic violence through shelter, safety, intervention, education, advocacy, and outreach. CASA’s mission also includes educating our community to create social change.

And critically for the mission of Izzy’s Law FL, CASA recognizes that domestic violence affects children, too.

CASA provides services specifically for children who have been exposed to domestic violence, including safety planning, positive intervention, resources designed to promote healing and self-esteem, and a Domestic Violence/Child Welfare Advocate who works alongside child-protection professionals with the goal of keeping children safe and holding those responsible for violence accountable.

That connection is incredibly important to us.

Izzy’s Law FL was created around a simple principle:

💜 When domestic violence is known to exist in a household, the safety of the child must matter.

Children should not simply be treated as bystanders to domestic violence. They can hear it. They can witness it. They can experience the fear and instability surrounding it. And decisions involving those children should recognize the very real impact that violence can have on their safety and well-being.

That is why we are so proud to stand alongside CASA Citrus, survivors, advocates, families, and members of our community at Step Up For Survivors.

The October 17th event is free and open to everyone and is intended to bring the community together in support of survivors and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
